Jeju Island Artist Collective and Space Unit Plus are excited to present a pop-up exhibition, “Smallish +” featuring works from 34 artists based in the US, Japan, and Korea.

The first “Smallish” exhibition opened at Gallery Ondo in Seoul, Korea in 2024, featuring 24 artists and then traveled to Gallery G with 26 artists, in Hiroshima, Japan.

Small in size but not in content, the works are not studies, models, or prototypes for larger pieces, but fully developed and realized works. Rich in cultural association, formal sophistication, and emotive power, these works compel through brevity and specificity. They include drawing, sculpture, painting, printmaking, kinetics, robotics, animation, and video. The exhibition constitutes a multivalent conversation between artists from near and far, employing a range of visual and expressive languages and processes.

“Smallish” is organized by the Jeju Island Artist Collective.

The works in the exhibition Smallish may be modest in scale, but their meaning and impact are anything but. Far from being mere sketches, studies, or models for larger pieces, these are fully realized artworks that embody each artist’s vision. Rich in cultural subtext, formal interplay, and emotional resonance, the pieces are concise yet deliberate. Spanning drawing, sculpture, painting, kinetic art, animation, video, and more, the exhibition presents a vibrant dialogue of form and color—connecting artists from near and far through diverse visual languages and expressive tones. Featuring contributions from twenty-five artists based in New York and Seoul, Smallish celebrates the power of small-scale work to convey expansive ideas.
